Temple of Sound :: People's Colony no.1
[realworld]   review from dimm

Holy crap.

I never knew qawwali could kick so much ass. The Star Rise Remixes was a great endeavor into re-interpreting Nusrat, but this album breathes new life into the Sufi style of qawwali by his nephew Rizwan-Muazzam Ali Khan.

My dad thinks they sound like a bunch of old men crying, but then he likes salt in his yogurt too. The point is this: old meets new, old teaches new, and vise versa. Everyone's happy.

Dig?

What we have here is a triumph of vision, a clear cut road to 21st Century Qawwal. This album pummels your eardrums with soaring vocals and thick electronic soundscapes mastered by TransGlobal Underground's Neil Sparks along with Jah Wobble. Buy it. Now.
