Star Rise Remixes :: Michael Brook/Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
[realworld]   review from dimm

I truly enjoyed every track on this great cd, but only give it four ambiguous spheroid things™ since I realise that I give most of the titles reviewed here 4 or 5 ambiguous spheroid things™, so arbitrarily this amazing effort only gets 4 ambiguous spheroid things™.

What a rip.

Anyway, each track is quite different from the other, and a new invention unto itself. Purists don't really like it cuz they think all the computer manipulations get in the way of the vocals saying, "I just hope The Late Great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is not turning in his grave... Not in the least bit innovative or artful...", but in reality they're just pissed off that they didn't think of it before Nusrat. How foolsih they must feel once they learn Nusrat helped invent this album by producing 90% of the tracks on it (which only became a tribute to him after he died).

The good thing about old people who think like this is that they die out, but the same fate sadly afflicts the great ones too...
